About Meads

Mead is the oldest alcholic beverage known to man with history dating back to 3000+ years in India. Mead is made by fermenting honey mixed with water, and sometimes with added ingredients such as fruits, spices, herbs, grains, or hops. Mead is very versatile as the alcoholic content ranges from about 3.5% ABV to in some cases to more than 20%. It may be still, carbonated, or naturally sparkling; dry, semi-sweet, or sweet. The defining characteristic of a Mead is that the majority of the beverage’s fermentable sugar is derived from honey. But this does not mean Meads are always sweet, as part or the the entire sugar from the honey can be consumed in the fermentations process. All these characteristics means there s a Mead for everyone s taste !
